Title:
Nice product, good quality, very good value.
Product Uses:
gift, educational use/study
Review:
I ordered this mini for my sister, she wanted a Pink netbook and with Christmas coming up I thought what a great gift. It arrived in about 7-9 days after ordering and was packed in a nice Dell box with the options I had asked for. After charging the unit up for a while I turned it on and was pleasantly surprised to see the Windows 7 install had been customised for my region, plus the machine had just the right amount of software built-in to get you started with what you need without bogging the machine down too much. I also like the power supply, it's all one piece and is more convenient for this style of product. I also liked that I was able to option up the purchase to include a physical copy of the operating system and drivers on DVD/CD, which came in the box. I would certainly recommend this product.

Title:
Lightening Fast, Photographic Quality Screen
Product Uses:
word and excel, wifi connection, photoshop elements
Review:
After experiencing the beauty of the new glossy black screens and the wonderfully thin case of the new Garmin Nuvi, I wanted the same experience in a laptop. I wanted an elegant experience and something lightening fast.
This computer has it all!!! I have used it for 3 months so far without any problems. It is perfection in design and function. I still don't know how they put everything into such a thin, but sturdy chassis. The attention to detail is amazing. It doesn't run hot sitting in my lap, which was another requirement. There are a lot of subtle simplifications in this computer.
It only has 2 USB2 ports, which are all that is needed when you add a powered hub and connect it with one USB2 cable. The powered hub sits on a credenza that holds all the other devices I need (scanner, wireless mouse, DVD/CD drive, powered hard drive for backup, Scandisk flash memory, thumb drive, etc. I use the wireless connection to a Cisco-Linksys E3000 Wireless-N Router with a LAN printer and that leaves only the power cord and the USB2 cable to plug in or unplug.
I love the silence of a solid state hard drive. I love everything about this computer. It is an elegant and beautiful experience every time I use it. I have the 64 bit Windows 7 and 2010 Excel/Word/Outlook programs. What a wonderful software upgrade, and everything is so fast. The screen is like looking at a photograph, it is so beautiful!!! It is a whole new world!!! Thank you Dell!!!

Title:
Extremely poor quality and lifespan
Product Uses:
Gaming, school work
Review:
This laptop started on a bad note. The second 320G hard drive I ordered was in the case, but had never been wired or screwed in-I didn't find this out until the keyboard failed. I opened the case and the extra drive fell on my desk. I liked the computer in general, although it was loud and ran extremely hot, the speakers are not useful beyond talking volume, and the performance was good. This was to change...
I bought this computer in August 2009. I usually move it from my desk only a couple times a week(I don't walk around with it a lot), and have so far had the following problems:
Top row of button either does not work or flickers and works inconsistently. I have reattached the ribbon but it does not stay. This is annoying because there is no other physical compact disk ejection button.
Keyboard failed, was as if holding down alt key without physical contact continuously, had to replace keyboard to fix it.
Wired in 1st hard drive was completely corrupted, had to transfer everything to a new hard drive, re install operating system. Physical hard drive was damaged, not operating system.
Graphics card freezes randomly and sometimes recovers, sometimes does not. It does this almost every time pressure beyond a keystroke takes place left of the touch pad.
USB slots are loose, and you sometimes must reinsert several times in some to get a connection.
One of the headphone slots (of two) no longer works.
Worst of all, the case is very flimsy for such a large laptop, and it and the hinges have started to loosen, so it flexes a little more than I would like it too.
All these things happened around the expiration of the warranty, in the last year or so.
I have enjoyed: -reasonably long battery life with extended battery -good game performance -An easy transition from vista to windows 7 - Laptops ability to heat a small room.
I spent a good deal on this laptop, and most likely will not be buying any more dells because of it.

Title:
Very bad build quality, creaky and body breaks :-(
Product Uses:
personal use, internet
Review:
Have this laptop for 3 years and have never been so DISSATISFIED with a product. Never had the battery life that they claim, and have tried every trick in the book, from disabling bluetooth to disabling 3g/GPRS in cmos setup, to dimmest display etc. but could never get over 1.5 hrs on battery.
VERY BAD BUILD QUALITY: CHEAP PLASTIC which creaks and cracks. The palmrest was creaking from day 1. The screen hinges would seperate from their clips, and this became more frequent to a point that they seperated and could creak even more. The screen became more wobbly. The edges around the screen started coming off, to a point that they had to be clipped back together. THis again, became a routine and now the clips have lost their strength. The rimming of the keyboard keeps coming off once in a while.
I am disgusted and appauled with the BUILD quality of this laptop. I looked up on the dell site and realised that the screen rimmings are sold as an accessory at 79$'s !!!! This makes me even more certain that this is a problem with a lot many users which Dell have chosen to ignore, or rather attend to by asking them to buy another set of plastic and pay more....
I am pained to see this sort of a product from a company like Dell, with no action and no acknowledgement of the issue..
Regards, Shreyas.
