3rd Alienware Purchase. 1st Time Unhappy
Product Uses:
3d modeling, gaming programming, internet, Gaming
Review:
I purchased this Alien ware laptop with no other bells or whistles. I bought it stock as-is, and added nothing. When it arrived I felt like a kid in a candy store just like when I got the other two (desktops). Now I knew it wouldn't play Call Of Duty MW2 at max settings, and this was pretty much a World Of War craft and internet PC. With other low level games. So my expectations weren't high really. I just like the Alien ware brand, and have never had issues before. So here they are. PC freezes all the time, this is an out of the box issue. Not something that happened later on. It freezes during World Of War craft, and when I first turned it on, would freeze during browsing the web! That's insane! Sometimes it freezes so bad I get loop sound (over and over) and i have to hold the power button. I have to do the "hold the power button" trick at least twice a day. Especially if Im gaming! Its nice. I feel like this is poorly put together. I do like the design, and everything else, other then those technical problems. When it's not freezing, or looping sound, or cutting my internet time short by freezing, World of War craft and my games look great! I am also into PC Programming, and have a lot of Game Engines, Tools, and such, this is not the computer for that. I have thousands of dollars in game development software, and this PC is not having any of it. Some work, some don't. Hit or miss on this lap top. I will for sure be going elsewhere. To top it all off I paid Alien ware CASH, right away, so they got paid, and got a expensive net book. Another thing, it took me about 4 months in Afghanistan saving my money to be able to just pay it off like I did. /Fail computer.

This has 1 gb & you cannot upgrade to 2gb so the tech said.

First laptop purchase..
Review:
And after one month of use, I've been recommending the Inspiron 15 (1545) to friends & family. The memory space is more than plenty for everyday tasks, web-surfing and video streaming, etc. The web-cam and dvd/cd-r drive are just two of the good inclusions of this model. The Mrs. and daughter enjoy it also, chiefly for its user-friendly detail. I researched other laptops for several weeks (including Apple, HP, Sony..) and found the Inspiron 15 to be a better value and product for the money. I liked the idea of customizing it to fit my needs and budget; even after a couple of upgrades, the 1545 was still the better value!

First Laptop Purchase
Review:
Having purchased a Dell desktop system quite some years ago, I decided on a laptop for my most recent purchase. The Inspiron 17" does not disappoint and has pretty well replaced my desktop for daily use. Easy to use right out of the box, loaded with features, this is a great system! Battery life is a little shorter than expected, but certainly should not be a deterrent from purchasing the Inspiron!

This laptop is a total lemon. It shuts down on me more than three times a day on average! I spend more time with technical support than being able to enjoy the features that first attracted me to this purchase. I regret the day I bought this laptop. My Inspiron laptop from 2004, never gave me a problem. I truly hate this laptop.

Review:
I just got my new laptop yesterday, and i must say i am quite impressed. The feel is wonderful, the look is sleek and sexy, and the OS runs pretty quickly. It is not the fastest computer but it is still better then before! Compared to my old Compaq i got at Bureau En Gros for around $450 this thing can play my video games and movies with great quality and little to no lag at all.
However i was deeply worried about the product when i opened it for the first time. Not because it attracts fingerprints like no tomorrow, or the fact that the facial recognition is terrible, or the fact that it heats up in the back left corner easily. No this was unaccpetable. I open up my computer within the first 20 minutes and i get a blue screen of death. THE BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH, IN THE FIRST 20 MINUTES!!!!!!!!
luckily enough it rebooted and worked fine, but im still a bit unsure as to the capabilities of this 320gb hard drive.
for anyone who is interested in this computer, i would say do it. Only because it really is worth it. Oh and btw the battery life on the regular 6-cell battery is horrible, like actually i run it at full capacity it lasts for like 1hr and 30 min at best.
get the 9-cell battery it lifts up the computer a bit but it doesnt really have anymore physical effect other then that. and it lasts for like 3hrs on max capacity. :)
have fun computer searching! i did, and im dang happy now!!!

I am very pleased with my Inspiron 17 laptop. The Blu-ray player and large high def screen is great for watching movies and playing games when stuck at the airport for hours. The system has plenty of speed and space for getting to/storing e-mails and documents quickly and easily. The system basically came with everything I needed, no extensive customization required, though many options were available. I am very happy with my new Inspiron 17 and will be using it for years to come.

I purchased the Dell for my girlfriend for Christmas and have had a few opprotunities to use it (when she isn't on it!. I am really a fan of the Windows 7 included not tomention the speed of this amazing laptop. While it isn't the top of line it is far and above anything I have used, desktop or otherwise. The display is crisp and the keyboard smooth and comforatble to use. Setting up the wireless was easy. We had her up and running in less than 1/2 an hour. I purchased the 9 cell battery. We have used the computer for over 5 hours continuously without haveing to stop and plug it in. Overall, one of the best computer purchases I have ever made.

Review:
This has to be one of the best purchases I have ever made! This laptop looks amazing and performes amazing. I can get extremely good battery life from a 6 cell battery. Well over 3 hrs when set on power saver mode!
Pros; Looks amazing. Backlit Keyboard looks great. Capacitive touch is a nice feature. Compact & lightweight. Well built. Can run multiple applications fine in power saver mode. Camara is a good feature. Latest DDR3 RAM used at the stock speed(ie cpu 1067MHz,ram 1067MHz). No more fragile DVD tray.
Cons; It heats up bit when running in high performance mode. I find some of the default Touchpad setting annoying. Comes with some junk installed One extra USB port would be nice but not essential.
Recommandations; Use Low power mode for browsing the web or playing music, It still preformes well and the battery lasts alot longer. Take bluetooth out of "startup" folder and turn it on manually in future. Upgrade the BIOS Uninstall any junk Would recommand a WLED display

Trepidation before purchase, relief after!
Product Uses:
Connecting with Friends, Travel, Presentation, software development, virtualization, application servers
Review:
I needed a laptop with 8GB RAM, for running VMware and various server products. And I wanted something pretty small. There weren't too many laptops on the market that met the bill; I looked at Lenovo and even Apple, but would have to (a) pay a lot more and (b) get a bigger machine. I've been using very small machines as my primary computer for many years - Sony Vaio UX, oQo 02, etc - and I really didn't want to carry around a huge desktop replacement.
Before buying, I read lots of reviews complaining about heat and poor stability, but a few stating that the newest BIOS fixed these problems.
So, I held my breath and took a chance. And it's worked out very well! I did have heat problems and a BSOD the first day (!) but installed the new BIOS on the second day, and haven't had any problems since! I got it with Vista x64, and there wasn't much junkware installed - I think the junkware vendors just haven't gotten around to writing 64-bit software.
The machine is small enough to be comfortable, big enough to be useful, and fast enough to run all the work software I need. And it doesn't run that hot, either - it's ok on my lap and I use it that way quite a bit.
My one complaint is that the black finish picks up fingerprints very easily. But it seems like everything has that nowadays, and it does come with a cleaning cloth. I wouldn't mind more USB ports, but I honestly don't really need them.

I bought this notebook for my daughter for Christmas. She wanted something that she could carry around with her to do her facebook, e-mail, etc while she was in her room. The notebook took the cake. She loves it and uses it all the time. Since I have a wireless router set up, she can take it anywhere in the house and get her connection to the internet.
I bought the Dell because our company has been using Dell for all their purchases and we never have a problem. If there is a problem, Dell will take care of you.

Yes, it does get hot, but that's not a con, it's understandable because it is very powerful for a laptop
This computer has 3 usb ports! Only, one of them is a usb/esata port.
Reluctantly, I wasn't aware that there were solid state drives available.
Built the same computer (or as close as I could get) on mac, and it was at least $800 more.
Haven't Had the computer that long, hasn't even left the house yet, but I'm confident that it will do well.

I love my netbook - just what I had hoped for - light and great looking. Keyboard is very nice and easy on the fingers, much better than on other netbooks I looked at. Runs faster than I expected for a netbook, internet fast! Runs Office very well. The track pad does jump around but you can easily adapt your hand position to accommodate this, not a reason not to get it. The smaller battery lasts about 2 and a half hours - not bad. Get the larger one for longer trips. This netbook will make your friends jealous!!!

I ordered my laptop on the 19th and received it on the 27th, Amazing! I upgraded the lcd screen, the processor, hard drive, wireless, bluetooth, and kept all other configurations to a minimum. I thought I made a mistake of purchasing the laptop prior to reading user reviews through out the internet. The reason being that so many people were complaining about overheating, sound quality, build quality, and several other faults. I was honestly concerned if I made a bad investment on a faulty computer. Thankfully, after testing and configuring my laptop for 12hrs straight, I am pleased say that the minor issues which I have listed above where greatly overshadowed by the laptops performance and value. As a note: I had a couple of concerns with respects to my purchase through out the week and the great customer service provided by customer support has won by business for years to come.

Althoug a little flimsy due to the all plastic construction, I've not had any issues with performance. Definitely get the back-lit keyboard and the extra capacity 9 cell battery along with the larger 500GB HD . Would buy this again but probably get color other than the black chainlink. Shows every finger print and dust thats gets on it. Nice machine and great support from Dell.I
