Title:
bad video and camera performance of Inspiron N5010
Review:
The video quality especially on skype for the other person is terribly bad. I used to use very low graphics and processor laptop but even that laptop gave pretty much nice result. But the video quality for other normal video clips is also terrible. I'm really disappointed with the performance of this laptop. Also, even though it has 1.3 megapixel camera but the quality of this lower than sony's 0.3 megapixel camera. This becomes noisy time and again.

Inspiron N5010 Pretty Good
Product Uses:
internet, business records, email, pictures photos
Review:
I bought this laptop after much research and user reviews. It's very fast and for the most part a great computer. Everything is still working after about a month of use. As a home remodeler I can take it to the job to show my customers pictures of the work I have done. The function keys come with an app to toggle them from F1-10 and the laptop settings keys. It came shipped with settings keys as primary but I prefer the F keys as primary.
My biggest complaint is the numbers keypad. The keys are very narrow and my fingers often (very often) hit more than one key at a time. You really have to double check the numbers on screen to make sure you got it right. I may buy a full size USB keyboard as a workaround. I already use a USB mouse most of the time.
When I first got the laptop I wished I had got a better graphics card than the built in Intel graphics as the DPI was not as good as my old laptop. I have gotten used to it now and does not seem to be a problem anymore.
Bottom line: It is a pretty good laptop for the money but not top of the line. It does what I bought it to do.

Good Deal
Review:
At £399 for 4GB memory & 500GB hard drive I think it's a great deal. My only moans are it doesn't feel as solid as my old Inspiron 14 and I'd prefer USB ports at the back as the wires look untidy from the side.

A great christmas prezzy
Product Uses:
music pics games msn and work
Review:
I got the laptop as a Christmas present after choosing it from the dell website. The laptop looks great, very fast and came in good time. The keyboard is flat surfaced, just like an apple mac I looked at in a shop, which is awesome.
The only negative if I HAD to choose one, would be the battery, which seemed to run out quite quickly but, as I am typing this (after charging),it says i have 5 hours left. This is a lot more than i had before!! :?
I did have to buy microsoft 2010, as am a student and will nedd to use this laptop for work but it runs it without problems. It also runs a huge libary in itunes, sims 3 and pictures with no hassle too. My house hold has three computers. Mine, a HP and a Samsung netbook. Mine is definitely the best.

Horrendous!
Review:
Having just got this laptop a couple of days ago, many problems have occcured. The keyboard keys are all 'squeaky' and seem like they are going to break any second and are going to fall out. The battery life is not stable, as sometimes 100% can be 4hours or 5hours, depending on the laptop's 'mood'. The laptop does not backfold to 180 degrees! I'm returning this laptop now. I DO NOT RECCOMEND IT.

Extremely good and efficient
Product Uses:
web design, video editting, youtube vimeo and flash video, online tasks (blogging emails etc.
Review:
The system is beautiful...
It's slick, clean, smooth - The design is perfect (without mentioning I have it in luscious Cherry red).
Of course, it runs on Windows 7 (64-bit) which is great, the performance from the laptop is exceptional considering the standard battery life.
As seen in other reviews, people complain that the mouse is too sensitive. Though I agree, I actually like it this way, and when compared to other laptops, it assists the user in completed tasks quickly. Besides, Dell has it's own touchpad settings within the general Control panel's mouse settings so if you don't want a quick and sensitive touchpad, this can easily be changed.
The only issues I have with this laptop are:
- The webcam isn't so great. Even when changing settings, the picture still appears grainy
- The Fn key is needed for all the "F" keys such as: F5 for refresh, and (as I work with Dreamweaver,) F12 is a primary hotkey.
Other than the above, the laptop is amazingly good considering it's rated a mere 3.4 by Windows. Another little design feature I like a lot is the soft-click buttons. NO OTHER LAPTOP has these and I'm surprised Dell hasn't advertised how exclusive these are.
If you're looking to upgrade your laptop for general all-round use, This IS the one. I run high performance programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver as well as Sony Vegas to to standard video and sound encoders, editors. The system copes well with these so if you're looking for something nice and general, this is it.

Touchpad Issues
Review:
I buy all my work laptops from Dell and the Inspiron 15 is probably the worst I have bought. In fact I have ditched it for the 501R.
The Inspiron 15 laptop has serious issues with the touchpad. Making changes to the settings and drivers as suggested by technical support makes no difference. The Inspiron 15 uses the Alps touchpad, which in my opinion was a big mistake. The synaptics touchpad that has been re-introduced onto the Inspiron 501R is far more reliable.
The only Pro I would have for this laptop is the embossed design on the case which does not show up the finger prints.

My First Laptop.
Review:
My parents bought this laptop for me for my A Levels back in October. Everything was fine until about 2 months ago. It has become VERY slow! OK, I should get a memory expansion but I've only been running iTunes, MS Word and Google Chrome; surely it can cope with that? Nope! Secondly, it feels very plasticy, and the touchpad buttons have broken (caved in is the best way of describing it) and I have tried to contact Dell by e-mail and it doesn't even display the page with the e-mail link! Not happy at all. Can't wait till I can afford a new one!

Great for the Price

Review:
Only early days, but this seems like a great buy. Grabbed this to replace my wifes failed XPS m1330 she had for 3 years. This one has a better spec, twice as much ram, a bigger hardrive and cost less than 1/3 of the price of the XPS....cant complain about that. The case graphics seem a little tacky at first, but they rock with no fingerprints...my ASUS piano black case is always covered in prints...not the Inspiron. My wife has nothing but praise for the mouse and the keyboard, so no issues there. The WLED screen is terrific and displays fantastic colour and depth, not bad for onboard graphics. For less than $600 you wont buy a better spec new Notebook and certainly not one that delivers on quality and performance like this.

Unresolved touchpad problem
Review:
As noted by earlier reviewers, the case is very cheap and plasticky and the keyboard is poor. Yet the display is good and the performance seems adequate for Office tasks and web browsing.
The main problem is the touchpad. With the as-delivered driver it was not always possible to log into the machine without using an external mouse, because the touchpad did not respond.
No drivers at all are available on the website (as of 2011-02-12).
Only weekday telephone support is avalable for free. After a bit to a struggle getting through, a new driver was loaded. This has improved things but the pad is still infuriatingly erratic on occasions.
Dell have not responded to my email request for further service. Neither have they responded to a letter.
The machine has been built down to a price. It shows. Not recommended, sadly.
I will update this review if Dell fix the problem. At present I want to reject the machine under the Sale of Goods Act.

Review:
This is my first laptop and I wasn't really sure what to expect, but so far I've been really impressed. It was extremely easy to set up, pretty much switch it on and it does the rest. I thought it would be a nightmare to connect it to our wireless network, but it does all that automatically. I was up an running in minutes. And it is extremely fast as well. The only slight downside is the battery life could be better, but it hasn't really caused me a problem so far.

Review:
Hey Everyone, This is one of the Good Laptop. All the main Components are Factory Replacbale Units. Moreover you just need to have a warranty on the Computer, where the computer can be fixed. The only thing that i would recommend is that go for a onsite Technician service which would get the service completed by 3 BDays.

The Cheapest Quality Dell to Date
Product Uses:
research and study, movies and music, internet
Review:
This is one model where cost cutting was the factory mantra.
Except for the 15.6 LED upper panel which is mass produced (for other models too!), the lower component that houses the keyboard and Motherboard is a disgrace. Plastic quality is abysmally low. The 3-USB connectivity is restricted to the left side, along with minimal number of connectivity ports and the inconvenient cooler vent-which should be in the rear.
The Kensington lock is another useless addition- nobody would steal this laptop. Very plasticky, big and cumbersome. Poor Keyboard feel, despite the optimal layout. There is no depth to key punch, and this will irritate professional typists, who need key feedback.
There is also no indicator light for Bluetooth or Wifi. Speakers are useless. The processor is also outdated. This is not a performance laptop. Multitasking with latest software would be difficult due to lack of Hyperthreading capability of the CPU.
The LED panel is the saving grace. Suitable for those who like to watch a lot of movies using Headphones. Adequate RAM and HDD space for saving and watching movies in HD. N5010 is a desktop replacement Laptop. Not very mobile for the moving consumer. This is one for your home use.
And with the newest configurations on the market, this laptop is Jurassic. Definitely not recommended!!!

I purchased one of these over a year ago and it is still going strong, the hardware in incredibly stable and I have not had a single issue with it since day one, windows has remained stable as well and has never displayed the blue screen of death, and it runs all the games I like to play (although it is a bit slow with the newer ones, but that is to be expected). I will definitely be considering another dell to replace this one in another year when the time comes to replace this one.

Review:
I am really enjoying my new Dell 9 volt laptop battery. The service from the Dell Customer Support line was excellent. My only complaint was that I asked them to change my mailing address to my current one and they sent the battery to my old mailing address. Aside from that, great service and a great product. This battery holds its charge for quite a while and my laptop does not get too hot sitting on my lap. Great job Dell.
