Dell 1764 - Great 17" Laptop
Product Uses:
streaming video, entertainment, home office, social networking
Review:
If you are looking for a 17" laptop that can be a fast and reliable desktop replacement, this is it! For around $749, you get a 500 GB hard drive, which is very large and can hold a lot of your photos and videos. There is the NEW 2010 Intel®Core™ i5 - 430M paired with the Intel HD Graphics video card. This gives you enhanced high definition video playback and sharper images and vibrant colors. The display is 17.3" High Definition. It gives you a lot of screen area to play with. There is a Integrated 1.3M Pixel Webcam which is great for video chat services. The picture is clear with little or no need for tweaking it. The 4-Watt (2 x 2W) High Definition Audio 2.0 Stereo Speakers with SRS Premium SoundTM blew me away. This is the first time I have ever been impressed with laptop speakers. GREAT SOUND! There is so much more that I could say about how great this unit is for multitasking, wireless connectivity and its portability for its size, but I would have a 2 page review. Try one out yourself. I am sure you won't be disappointed.

Great Laptop

Review:
This is my first laptop, I've always been put off by the small screens before. The transition from desktop to this laptop has been easy. The picture quality is perfect, both in applications and playing media. It is so quick and very easy to use. DELL delivered very quickly also. I'm just about to buy another one for the rest of the family!

Outstanding Laptop, Exceeded Expectations!
Product Uses:
office applications photoshop, entertainment movies music
Review:
This is my first Dell laptop, and after owning and being satisfied with other brands was a bit reluctant to make a switch. However after reading many favorable independent reviews decided on the Studio 17. Dell allowed me to customize the laptop exactly how I wanted and offered my final configuration at a very competitive price. I have now had the laptop for a month and am very impressed. I use it several hours a day as it is my business as well as personal computer and it goes with me everywhere. The build quality is outstanding! The case is sturdy and always feels solid including the hinges. Performance wise the i5-450m processor with 4GB DDR3 memory is lightning fast. The LED back-lit screen is crystal clear, keyboard is very responsive with great feed back and the keyboard back light option is outstanding especially when in low lit meeting rooms and conferences. Has well exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend the Studio 17 to anyone and already have to many friends and colleagues. Customer service and sales staff are top notch! Great job DELL!

Love Love Love My Purple Inspiron 15 Laptop
Product Uses:
home use, streaming video
Review:
This is my first Laptop and I love everything about it! Easy to use, lightweight, sleek and beautiful. The screen looks great for streaming video and the keyboard has a great feel about it. The keys almost feel like slate. The only thing that would make this computer even more awesome than it is, would be if Dell could somehow create a key to enable the keyboard to light up. Great product and so happy I bought a Dell.

Everyday laptop user
Product Uses:
college, movie streaming, everyday use
Review:
I am an every day laptop user that knows only what an average person would know about computers. I previously had a gateway laptop and this was my first Dell. After having it for a month I can safely say this was an upgrade in every way.
First off I like the placing of the keypad so you dont have to hit ctrl first to turn sound off and on as well as play and pause. I got the light up keypad feature which I highly recommend. It looks gorgeous.
The battery lasts for about 3 hours, and the AC adapter is really long so I don't have to sit at the outlet. I love that the DVD/CD port is like a MAC so I dont have to open or close it. Also I dont have to worry about accidentally opening it and ruining the burning process.
The sound is great, its hard to explain but it sounds sharp and crisp like a movie theater. The screen is gorgeous and the brightness is perfect. I actually find myself dimming the screen at times.
Overall you can tell that they integrated a lot of MAC ideas in this computer. The overall user interface feels and looks a lot more like a Macbook. I an completely satisfied with the Dell Studio.

Great laptop
Product Uses:
website design, software development
Review:
Although it doesn't come with a 1080p screen 900p surfices. The sound quality is amazing also for a 17" laptop the battery life ain't too bad. (3-5hours)
I tested this gaming performance and it comes close too my old desktop 460GTX which is very very impressive.
Although it took quiet awhile to get to me (3 weeks) it was well worth the wait. You won't find this value for money anywhere else on the internet, 17" laptops usually cost a lot more.
The keyboard is very easy to type on and feels very nice. The whole finish is nice!
All in all a very good laptop and I'm very happy with my purchase which was worth the wait.

Excellent Ultraportable Laptop
Product Uses:
browsing, multimedia, ms office, data storage
Review:
Pros - Dual Core Processor, 4 GB RAM, In-Built Graphic Support, Full Size Keyboard, HDMI Output, 7 in 1 Card Reader, USB with Powershare, Island Keyboard (100% size), Built and Look. Smartly designed Fn key usage. SIM Card Slot (but no adaptor). Ubuntu Boot Option is really fantastic.
Cons - Cannot tilt the screen beyond ~ 120 degrees, Very Soft Trackpad Buttons, Glossy finish. Battery life is not great. Not having dedicated Pg UP, Pg Dn, Home and End keys is a concern, but not a big issue.
I decided to buy a Netbook, until I see this Model. Dual core processor, 4GB RAM, in-built graphic support - all these captured my mind, but the cost was too high. So I waited until my travel to Malaysia and ordered it there for little more than 25K INR. This is a very good Ultraportable Laptop at that price. The cost in India may be more, but this is worth for that. but note that the model available in India is quite inferior to the one available in Malaysia (like 250 GB 5400 rpm HD Vs 320 GB 7200 rpm HD).
I was worried about this as I read some reviews that said heating and fan noise as an issue. But this is far better than I imagined. Yes it gets hotter if you don't give any room for ventilation, but it is hot only at the left side and cools very quickly. You won't feel anything if you place it on a single thigh. Fan noise is not an issue at all unless you receive a faulty piece.
The Key Board is the best I ever used on a laptop. Trackpad is very nice, but the buttons are very soft and they don't provide a 'click' feel.
There is an option to enable Ubuntu Light and through it you can watch movies, listen to music, browse, use facebook, skype etc without booting into Windows. I liked this very much as I Primarily use it for browsing and multimedia.
It also has facial recognition software which is very good. Not sure whether this and Ubuntu are part of the Indian version
My major frustration is the screen that can not be tilted after a certain angle. But I accept it as it has lot other benefits.
The finishing is very good, but glossy everywhere. A dry cloth is a must have accessory for this piece.
The battery is quite disappointing for this size of laptop. I get between 3.5 to 4.5 hrs without multimedia. This is ok for me, but it should be better for such a model. The new AMD processor really does a good job in power saving.
For those who consider portability as the main feature should consider this. If you have patience you can wait for a new model with new AMD processor. Others will definitely consider this or a similar model when their back starts aching.
Note: People say that we can use for gaming, but I have not tried anything yet. CD/DVD drive is not a part of the configuration, so I don;t consider that as a Con.

Its a good little notebook
Product Uses:
at home use
Review:
My notebook arrived a few weeks ago all in all its such a nice stylish thing with excellent crystal clear graphics makes viewing in HD so much more enjoyable. The sounds is excellent! It has suprises all over it from face recognition to touch pad that can make screen bigger or smaller at the spreading of two fingers! I went for top of the range so I got everything i wanted in the laptop.
However there is one con which is the fan seems to be on alot which is audible when you dont have music on to cover the sound.
All in all I gave this 4 stars with the only con that let it down being the fan.
Thanks for this cute stylish laptop Dell

Average laptop with below-average monitor
Product Uses:
emails and web surfing
Review:
I have had Dell desktop and laptops for years. Last laptop was an Inspiron 1501 purchased in USA. This new Inspiron M501R purchased in Hong Kong.
In general, the laptop is very average, which you should expect for the lower price.
But the unexpected bad experience is mostly from the monitor. The specs say: "15.6" (39.6cm) Widescreen HD WLED Glossy Display with TrueLife™ (1366x768)". But the images and text are really bad. Even by simply placing next to the 4-year old Dell Inspiron 1501. It's shocking how low-quality the Inspiron M501R screen is.

Great Laptop
Review:
This laptop has been just good to me since I got it out of the box. It handles all my tasks efficiently and never stops working. I sometimes leave processes open which use a lot of ram (such as video games) and forget I even have it open while doing other things. Doesn't crash, the battery life is pretty good if you use it on energy saver, and I would have to say this is one of the best windows computer on the market
